cannot open jpg files

hi....every time I click 'New' and try to open a jpg file, I get an 'unsupported file format' error box. do my jpg files need to be converted to another format before I can use them ?

Bricks'n'Tiles opens and saves project files. To open one or more Jpeg files you have to use the Brick Files section. See the "Getting Started" page for more infos: http://www.bricksntiles.com/tutorials/
